Touch Therapy

A light touch approach for adults, children, and infants to release tension and pain deep in the body. Feel the dramatic improvements to your body and wellness.

Upledger CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on form of body work or alternative massage that releases stress and pain in specific areas. It works with the natural and unique rhythms of the different body systems to pinpoint and address problem sources.

The Central Nervous System plays an important role here. Few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being than this intricate system. Stress and strain is a part of life and everyday your body absorbs that. As amazing as the human body is, it can only handle so much tension before it begins to tighten. This constriction can affect your soft tissue and, potentially, your spinal cord and brain.

This, in turn, affects your central nervous system which affects the performance of the entire body. The Body often remembers trauma due to a physical or emotional injury. These unsalable areas are isolated within your body CST provides a way for your body to “let go” of these unwanted areas.

CranioSacral Therapy releases this “body-tension,” allowing it to relax and self-correct. Our therapists at MedHealers in Melbourne, FL are certified and trained in this technique. We specialize in this lighttouch, whole-body treatment which works with the body’s craniosacral system to support and nourish the central nervous system; improving overall health and well-being by boosting the body’s ability to self-care. This technique was developed by John E. Upleder, DO, OMM and coined to describe the treatment modality he developed during his research at Michigan State University. The founder of MedHealers, Trisha Schmalhofer (LMT), studied and received extensive training from the world renowned Upledger Institute in Palm Beach, FL.

We still apply the very gentle technique used in Upledger CranioSacral Therapy. Sometimes children may release emotions or cry during treatment, but these techniques do not hurt them. The pressure exerted is usually around 5 grams which is about the weight of a nickel. This treatment can help with many things for children and they should continue to receive pediatric CST periodically throughout their childhood.
